Packing

5 May 2010.

On buying luggage.  Do the salesmen fly with luggage?  Do people come back and say, "Hey, that didn't fit in the overhead bins?"  The internet claims that the more expensive wide-body 20" will not fit in the bins, so another trip to the store is in order to exchange the suitcase that I just bought for a cheaper TravelPro 20".

Packing.  Done.

It's cool this morning, about 50, so the packed jacket comes out on the way to the airport.

Arrive at the airport 2 hours early. Kids are asleep in the van.   Just like Utah.  Go through security and wait for over an hour to board.  Boarding begins late, the plane arrived late and is being cleaned, they say.

The plane has an entertainment system, and I don't sleep on planes, so I watch 4 movies:
  1. Dear John. Pretty good.
  2. Leap Year. Predictable plot.
  3. Men who stare at goats.  Uh?
  4. Percy Jackson.

Meals on the plane:
  1. pretzels and juce.
  2. Beef barbecue.  Corn. Potatoes.
  3. Turkey sandwich or banana.  I take the banana.
  4. Pizza and fruit.
Tokyo.  We arrive a little late.  Through an internal security checkpoint, and then figure out where mom is going to go.  Mom arrives later--5:20.  She's in a group led by a japanese woman to go to the other terminal.  I tag along, but am noticed and have to show my travel documents.
At the JAL counter we have some trouble since we don't have a return ticket from Korea.  I explain that we plan to take the ferry, and return to Japan in Hakata, and that we have the flight from Tokyo.  3 phone calls and 20 minutes later the agent tells us that we have permission too board.
On the flight we have another meal--a bento box with a teriyaki chicken, shrimp, rice, and a sweet rice cake with bean jam.
Arrive in Pusan at 840.  Ride the bus through the terminal, pass immigration and then customs.  Jesse and Inhae are waiting with Inhae's father.
The trip through pusan to the Sea... Hotel takes an hour in traffic, with city lights and traffic surrounding us.  The fog obscures the view, and we're tired.
In bed shortly after arriving, and soon fast asleep.
Jet Lag.
